The Trend: Short Sweet Suits

From Left to Right: Akris, Bottega Veneta, Jason Wu, Wes Gordon, & Erin Fetherston

"A woman looks perfect today when she dares to switch the skirt with well-cut shorts"
-Albert Kriemler for Akris

Tired of the typical skirt suits? Why not be a little different this summer and search for the sweet little combo: Short Suits.  The nice thing about them is that you go to the office and off to party right after.

Bottega Veneta's inspiration is that of the 1920's tennis player Suzanne Lenglen of white pique jacket and culotte.  Yes, the culotte is bag this season and so is very classic piece of wardrobe there was.  The woven pique provides some breathe-ability for those hot summer days.

The short suits are so versatile, you can even wear them on the weekends!

Jason Wu's plain suit provides great feminine details and tailoring.  They can work to work right off to parties and cocktail hours, providing ladies with an alternative and eye fetching wear.

The Looks: Purple Rain

Strolling the streets of industrial NW Portland, heading to happy hour at Casa del Matador for a nice glass of Sangria.  The day started out warm, hence open back.  But by dusk, the wind picked up so time layer up with a light cardigan.  Breezy!

The Look:
Cooperative dress from Urban Outfitters
Ray Ban aviators in gold frames and light blue lens
Vintage scarf from Apparel Apparel
Jeffrey Campbell wedge from Miss Meers
Bag? Hand made my women weavers of a northern tribe in Thailand.  It comes with a silver jingle bell clasp as a security device too!
