F E A T H E R S  ooh la la!

No their feathers weren't ruffled! These stars were happily wrapped in gowns of feathers at the Met last night.  From dark ones to white ones with graduated colors, it was definitely a popular theme among some of the celebrities.  Plus, a great way to pay tribute to Alexander McQueen.

TOP IT OFF
No we are not at the Royal Wedding, we're still at the Met Gala! These are some dramatic millinary work on top.  Pretty cool to look though.

There were the reds, feathers and menswear inspired looks.  Among these, the trend of CUT OUTs were prominent at the Met.  The favorite was Gennifer's Topshop dress.  Perfectly cut in all the right places, topped with the beautiful green fabric and her Van Cleef & Arpels necklace made this entire outfit complete.  Well... almost, check out her heels!

Fire Engine Red
No wonder why red is used at stop lights... Gisele and Jennifer along with many other celebrities rocked the gala in their show stopping reds.  The peekaboo Gucci gown Jennifer has on is wonderfully romantic yet devilish don't you think?

Nude + Long Sleeved = Gowns

Among the mermaid trains and ostrich feathered gowns, some starlets were clad in ravishing long sleeved nude gowns.  Adorned all over their intricate dresses are hand sewn glass beads that shined in the lights of flashing photographers as they graced over the red carpet.

WOW! These dresses were amazing.  Yes over the top and some were really over the top but all in all that is why it is the Costume gala is it not? Well done ladies! (and gents).

Here Comes the Sun

It's been a long, cold lonely winter

It feels like years since it's been here

Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's alright

Love my new purchase, the American Apparel accordion skirt.  There are so many colors that I want, especially the deep orange.  I can see this being worn in autumn.

If you are in the market for the cream accordion skirt, a bit of Warning: It is a very see through so wear a long shirt that you tuck inside.  You will be "seen" if you get my drift.

Oh! The favorite accessory? Ray Ban Wayfarer.  If you haven't read this post, click on the link and take a look.

Today's look:
H&M Silk blazer

Ray Ban wayfarer, black

Orange and pink have got to be the fave colors for this season.  The nice thing about them? They are timeless.  Yes, I will still wear my pink blazer three years from now.  The cut is classic and therefore it will out live the trends.

Key to a good closet? Stay in style but buy key pieces that will last not just this season but other seasons.  Find pieces that are good transitional pieces too.  That way you can wear them not only in Spring, but Fall/Winter as well.  FYI... Orange will still be big for Fall/Winter 2011, you just need to accessorize it right.

A high contrast to their spendy Alexander McQueen gowns, The Duchess of Cambridge and her best friend-sister, Pippa Middleton opted to wear Zara the day after the wedding.

Love love Pippa's blazer.  There really need to be a Zara in Oregon!

Zoobomb

From the picture, this looks like a modern graveyard for bicycles.  Yet, a closer look will reveal that these bikes are in rather good shape, small, but good shape.  What is this pile of bikes and how did it get here?

It all began in the Fall of 2002, the start of Zoobomb.  This almost 10 years tradition consists of local cyclists, young and old, making their way to the top of the West Hills, Portland, Oregon (at night).  The Zoobombers meet here, the Bike Pile, their starting point.  From here, they take the Max Lightrail west up to Washington Park/Oregon Zoo.  Once on top, they bike down the vicinity hill.  Of course, it's more fun when you do it several time within the night.

So what's the purpose of this pile? New to Zoobomb and no bike to ride down? Then you are loaned one of these.  What a concept.  Check out the clip from Globe Trekker to get a feel of Zoobomb!
